Using complementary colors, these young artists painted these whimsical ice cream creations. Tints, shades, and tones gave these cool desserts just the right amount of contrast!

FOOTPRINTS ON THE BEACH
Nothing is more relaxing than taking a summer stroll on the beach......ocean breezes, water lapping through your toes, and the occasional crab sidewinding it's way to the surf! Ahhhh....summer. My younger Art students captured this lazy feeling with their footprint paintings! If you listen carefully, you can almost hear the rolling of the waves and the cry of the seaguls. Happy summer everyone!!

BUTTON...BUTTON!!
Who has the button!! Why, they are in the trees! My younger class combined some of their art skills learned this year and a new use for buttons to make this colorful painting of a spring tree. The colors of the sky swirl brilliantly around these stately trees. I must say that these paintings will catch the eye of anyone passing through a room!

SHARPIE PRINTS
Colorful designs flowed from the imaginations of my younger Art students. Using Styrofoam, the students made printing blocks and printed them using Sharpie markers as their color source. What a fun lesson in printmaking!
Watercolor Pets!
Negative/Positive space, watercolor techniques using alcohol, salt, and plastic wrap were the main concepts studied by my older, young artists this month. These artists demonstrated how to masque out spaces so as to leave just the positive image of their favorite pet. From chickens to cows to cats and dogs, these artists created some amazing pet portraits!

FISH RELIEFS
After studying the world of the ocean last month, my art students created clay fish reliefs this month. Colorful and 3D, these amazing fish look like they can swim away at any moment!
